So... how did all this start?

To be honest, I didn’t set out to build a business. I just really loved candles. But after a while, I got tired of buying ones that didn’t feel like me. The scents were too generic or too strong, the packaging was boring, and the names? PASS. I wanted candles that had vibes. That felt intentional, a little cheeky, and maybe even made me laugh when I needed it most.

Eventually, lighting a candle became more than a routine for me, it became a ritual. A moment to reset. To breathe. To say, “you’re doing great.” And that’s how Sugar & Spark was born.

But no one ever succeeded alone.

My mom, who is our hero and the definition of warmth, found her joy in soap making. And let me tell you: this woman pours love into every single bar. Meanwhile, my sister is the visionary. She brings the fire, the ideas, the scroll-stopping social media magic. Together, we’re just three women turning passion into something real. Something beautiful. Something ours.

And the name? Well...It’s literally us. I’ve always been the “sugar” in the family (sweet, soft, emotional - i'm a cancer!), and my sister? Sagittarius. Full-on spark, bold, driven, and fiery. Plus, we sell candles (spark) and soaps (sugar)... it just clicked.

Somewhere along the way, waistbeads joined the lineup. I started making them for myself because I honestly loved my waist and wanted to accentuate it, highlight it. But then i found that it was helping me with posture and body-awareness. So I researshed and found that they're more than just an accessory—they’re tradition, energy, intention, confidence. Rooted in West African culture, waistbeads are deeply personal and symbolic. Whether you wear them to feel connected, powerful, or just because they’re cute as hell, we honor their roots while creating pieces for every body, identity, and mood.

Now here we are: candles, soaps, waistbeads, scrubs, and whatever we dream up next. All handmade in small batches. All filled with intention, color, and care.

So if you’ve ever wanted to start something but felt scared—hi, same. And if you're here just to vibe with us, light a candle, and take a moment for yourself? You’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Thanks for being here.
